Today we have Pitcfork's choice for the second best album of 2010, LCD Soundsystem's This is Happening. I've again decided to focus on the album as a whole, rather than a single track, but you can have a listen below to one track to give you an idea of the sound if you haven't heard the album yet.
"Can Change" by LCD Soundsystem (2010)
What I love visually about this album is that there is a constant sense of motion, that you almost never settle. It's like a wave moving from the left to the right, which is unusual because so many of these top ten albums consisted of rising or falling motion, rather than side to side. The colors are indefinite, vaguely changing as the album progresses: pale whites, blues, yellows, greys, and more. It's an image that more than those from the other albums is undefined and without edges, giving it a great sense of openness and space. There's great synthesizer work as well which adds little bubbles of electric purples and greens which seem to dance on the surface of the wave's leading edge. Here are some pieces that in some way reflect this imagery. Enjoy!

GET THE LOOK: JAMES MURPHY
Having performed at a YSL fashion show last year explains why LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy is so frequently photographed sporting one of the label's nearly $300 tees. You too can emulate this simple, clean designer look for a much more reasonable price with these fabulous items!
YSL Inspired Stylish Basic White Tee from ANANEE $29
